support for tech support
i am in tech support. once in a while i get ask some help from companies that supply services for us or one of our clients in situations that are beyond my reach. to give you a background, i was asked by a client to add a couple of e-mail addresses to their e-mail host. no biggie since i’ve done it more than 20 times already and everything was web-based so point and click, input address names, point and click and all done. i were able to create the addresses and but they do not appear in the list of addresses. weird. so i create them again and the web application says it can’t because the addresses were already taken. huh? but i couldn’t see them in the list of addresses even if i force-refresh the browser or cleared its cache or the cache of the firewall. i e-mailed for some assistance. an extract of one of the last e-mails i received is below. i didn’t do any editing except for the e-mail addresses which are not real.
We verified your account I looked into your Email Control Panel and found that the mail accounts which you were talking about dose not appear in your Email Control panel.
I did not found
- fakeaddress1@fakedomain.com
- fakeaddress2@fakedomain.com
This can only be happened when you do not follow right steps for creating mail accounts and they actually do not get created. Though you did mention that you received an invitation for fakeaddress2@fakedomain.com, if this is the case then this mail account should have been in your Email Control Panel with a status of ‘pending invitation or invitation sent’. But this is not the case here.
Therefore all I can say about these mail accounts is that though you might have tried to create these mail accounts but they are not created actually otherwise they would have appeared in your Email Control Panel.
You do not need to worry about this issue.
huh?!? makes your head spin.
first, the inventor of the english language must be crying right about now. please train your tech support for the proper usage of english. one or two misspellings may be ok (i sometimes forget the check spelling button too) but grammar is another thing.
second, it is an issue because i need the e-mail addresses. if i had access to a secure shell to their server i wouldn’t even bother sending out an e-mail for assistance.
although, i did find the response funny.
as of this writing, the issue has not been resolved yet.
