cpu spring cleaning

i don’t know if its the summer weather (hot and toasty), the manila dust (dark and hairy) or just me (ha!) but my cpu temperatures are up. i regularly replace the fan filters but dust and hair still manages to get inside.

cpu temps

i think its time for some desktop spring cleaning. this means disassembling everything in the computer case, cleaning each component and reassembling everything.

easier said (or written down) than done.

the last time it did a complete disassembly was about two years ago and it took about two days. it also involved formatting the hard drives and reinstalling everything which i’m not too thrilled to do.

but i think it has to be done (i’m still trying to convince myself). windows is getting slow and i think it needs a refreshing and i’m thinking about making the flow of air inside the case more efficient by rearranging the fans.

task casing
here’s a look at my case on the inside and on the outside — a task saxon. i’d like swap this thing with a case with a better internal design but i’m thinking that in about two years i’ll probably get an athlon 64 x2 and get a new case for it so what’s the point? i can live with the thing and just try to make this work with the current system.
