interesting news
i was looking over the news at slashdot and i found a couple of interesting items. the first one as about a resurgence in vinyl. yup. the type where music was recorded. 
wow. i remember seeing a box of old records in the house a couple of weeks ago. i also remember buying an album of u2 which i haven’t played yet. the problem is that turntables are pretty expensive these days.
the other news is about a robot. you build it yourself. and it comes from kyosho. i know of kyosho because of remote control cars, trucks, buggies. electric or gas. they build pretty good ones too. and now they’re diving into robots. cool.
the last one is about the video card used in computers. the new ones are pretty expensive — sometimes rivaling the price of a brand new computer. the chip used in these cards are called graphics proccessing units and they are very, very fast at what they do. someone finally came up with the idea to use gpus for servers — as the cpu. looks promising. i’m thinking about a cell processor powering my video card sometime in the near future.
