monday crash
its a monday.
the firewall’s hard disk crashed. it didn’t even give me a warning. stupid hard disk.
its a good thing i have an extra drive (4 gig) hanging around and a recent backup of the firewall. all i have to do is install the firewall, copy the backup and untar the thing. but the rub is its a monday and mondays have this thing for me.
the firewall installer seems to be missing so i had to make a new one from the iso. after replacing the hard drive, i found out that the cd drive wasn’t working so i had to temporarily replace it with a good one. i also realized that the hard drive is really old (hey, its a 4 gig model) and it would probably go within 6 months or so.
all in all, it took me half a day wrestling with the hardware and about 15 minutes to install the firewall and restore the config from backup.
i really don’t like mondays.
