ct*: microsoft’s linux
i was reading a blog entry saying that linux won.
yes! finally! bring out the champagne! linux won!
microsoft will now have to jump into the bandwagon and make its own linux. it makes sense since they just got into that 5-year agreement with novell. after that i am willing to bet that microsoft will come out with their own version of linux. it will look like windows xp but the premium version will look like windows vista ultimate. they will call it windows horizon.
they are already in the middle of porting their programs to run on horizon. this includes internet explorer and office. the rest will follow thereafter. of course the ports will be open source but it really doesn’t matter. very, very few (if not none) will bother going through more than a billion lines of code anyway.
microsoft will then make money by providing support and daily updates. they will also make money on web services. remember? they’re already starting that web services thing.
