a visit to an old client
i was able to visit an old client a couple of days ago. they have scaled down some to cut costs but they’re still up and running. times are hard. but being smaller also means being nimbler.
anyway, their computing environment is a mix of windows 98 and windows xp home. these system came with the pcs. i did notice a refreshing change — they were using open office instead of a hacked (read as pirated) copy of some legal office productivity suite. this makes sense since they were trying to save.
the point here is that doing business doesn’t have to cost a lot. there are ways of cutting operating expenses without sacrificing effectiveness.
and they’re doing it.
