signs

first there came the option to “downgrade” from vista to windows xp for new pcs. then there’s the 5-month extension (until 30 june 2008) for pc manufacturers to continue selling windows xp pre-loaded.

there’s even a call to abandon vista altogether.

cannot read the signs, eh?

well, to me, it appears that most people just wants to stay with xp and/or are having a hard time with vista.

so is it really worth the upgrade? is xp really that broken?

WinXP Pro works fine with me. Used it for serious DTP and use it at home. No problems. About a year ago I inadvertently let IE7 be installed and things began to fail right away. Can’t recall the details but within 10 minutes I deleted version 7 and went back to version 6.

I assume Vista is the same. Fancy GUI but no valid reason for USERS to upgrade. Want nuttin’ to do with it. I s’pose the day will come when folks are forced to “upgrade” to Vista but I hope I’ll never see it.

well, these days, there are a lot more choices. i’m staying with win xp pro for as long as i need it (for games mostly) but for work, i’m currently experimenting with ubuntu 7.04 and it seems like a pretty good replacement to xp.
