i got nothing much to do today. wet and rainy and not hungry so i surf.

i found a good article on usb 3.0 which will be 10 times faster and expected to have a wide deployment by 2010. that’s not far. by that time, terabyte drives should be common enough as well as quad core cpus, gigabit speeds will also be the de facto standard on network ports built into each motherboard and don’t accept anything less than 4 gig ram. this will be fun although by that time i think i wouldn’t care as much.

my cell phone might have died already. its been plugged in for more than 48 hours, the red led is on but it hasn’t shown me a “charging” icon on the display. stupid phone. i do not think i’ll use a sony ericsson anymore unless i’m given one. but for now i’ll start saving up for a hello moto. i just need to send text messages and play my mp3. making calls is secondary.

oh yeah. before i forget — a little rant, if i may. have you guys seen those cell phones with teeny tiny qwerty keyboards. has anyone tried using it as a qwerty keyboard? you can’t even fit both your hands side by side on the thing! duh.

… online poll of consumers’ digital media and entertainment habits, sponsored by IBM, showed that more people are spending more time Web surfing than channel hopping of late…
– informationweek, Internet’s Killing The TV Star

that sentence says a lot about today’s generation.

hmmm. i sound old.

most of everyone is connected in some way or another. wired. wireless. tv is a large part of the home entertainment scene and i think it would still be there for some time. the method of delivery may be different in the coming years though.

everything digital goes through the ever-present internet. why not television programs? radio is into it already — a bit choppy at times but its there. you can even view the local soap opera on your mobile phone.

eventually, there would be enough bandwidth and processing power to saturate everyone’s hunger and when that happens you’ll get to see your favorite television programs on your large screen monitor along with the filtered vid-mails for the hour — all with advertising, of course.

i hardly used yahoo! photos. the interface is a bit awkward and storage space is a bit on the small side. but it is, or was, there.

in the end, i think its a good decision on yahoo!’s part. they already have a pretty good photo service going in flickr. two photo services is just a waste or resources. i just wish that flickr would increase the ceiling on how many photos they’d show on free accounts. wishful thinking.

linux vs windows vs mac. the neverending comparison. at times i find the exercise futile if not close to pointless. but then again we humans aren’t exactly predictable.

i’ve believe its a matter of personal preference. no matter how hard we push one or the other it still falls on whether it fits the user’s comfort zone.

beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, as they say and leave it at that.

i also believe that we will be seeing more and more work places or homes with a mix of systems — windows/mac for desktops, linux for servers or vice versa.

no more purely this or purely that.

world domination does not work. and if someone manages to make it work, well, it simply becomes boring.

hi gud am,jst wnt 2 ask,i cnt cend email,d mesge says,cnt cnd bcoz d server dnt wnt 2 acpt d sender,wat 2 do,. tnx.

i had to read this text message three times, slowly, before i “got” its meaning. in short, its a call for help.

this is a sample of txt spk or “text speak” — one of the results of constantly using a cellphone.

honest and blunt foot forward, i dislike it. it takes too much time and effort to decipher a message when that time can be used best to find a solution. i usually text back to say that i had a hard time deciphering the message and i usually include a solution to the problem.

if the person sends another message in text speak again i do not send a text message back but opt to send one via e-mail or internet messaging.

people spend years and years learning how to spell, speak and use a language to communicate and interact with and understand other people. use it and use it properly.

please.
